Talking to the boss 2

That was totally not bad at all. He is so normal.

When I was at the big city museum and I told my boss I was pregnant she wanted to know everything: when was my last day, would I really take 12 weeks off, who could cover for me, when could I come back????  I was only 12 weeks pregnant! She was new to the museum and I had been there for more than a year so she relied very, very heavily on me. In fact, I think she still does! HA! I went back for an event a couple weeks ago and she introduced me to someone as her assistant. I think I still had the residual ill feeling about that conversation going into this one.

But this certainly is a different place. Because it's so small there isn't a set maternity policy. This kills me! I thrive on organization and rules; tell me what the procedure is! But it could work out because everything is negotiable. I think they like me and I feel like, if they can, they will find something to pay me for.

Now I just hope we get to the point when this is a real conversation, when we have a baby at home and we have to talk about this.
