We're nothing without our health

My brother's wife's mother, D, is in the hospital. She's a good family friend as well as an in-law. She had a massive heart attack on Sunday and was found unconscious by her husband. She was taken by ambulance and had surgery to clear a blockage. The trouble is that no one knows how long she was without oxygen. She was put into a medically induced coma and her body was cooled to help it heal with less stress. She is  starting to be warmed today.

When my mom told me this on Sunday I was immediately brought back to the hospital with Stella. With the cooling blanket and the warming up. I hate to say it because I know the cooling process works wonders but I don't trust it. Stella was on the cooling blanket for 72 hours and then it took something like 12 hours to bring her back to normal temperature. This was the point when "cautiously optimistic" came into our vocabulary. We used it in emails to our family. My goodness, it still hurts so much to remember.

I am hoping for D to make a full recovery but kind of expecting bad news. Can this year just be over?

I hope 2011 will be kinder. I know life goes on and we'll all still be hurting and more will join our groups. But maybe, just maybe, more will be pregnant and rainbows will be born healthy and go home with their families.

I wish everyone peace, comfort, joy, and health this season.

Amanda - Im very sorry to hear this. I have been keeping up with your blogs for a little while now.

I am keeping your family in my thoughts and I keep Stella in my heart. If you ever need anything please don't hesitate to ask.
